Using custom fonts on iPhone/iPad

last week, i've been working on Wrestling-Online.com 's iPad app, the most panic thing that appears when we were finalizing the app was that client want news font to be Calibri and despite of setting label n textView font to calibri by both interface builder and

[textView setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"calibri" size:14.0f]];

it doesn't seems to appear, with every adhoc update we provided, the client angrily responded that why the hell we are not changing fonts to calibri.

well after executing this code :

i got the output in which calibri font doesn't exist, look strange but we need to provide solution, so there is definitely a way of using custom fonts on iPhone/iPad and the way is :

1. Copy the fonts to Xcode resource folder of your project.

2. In info.plist of your project Add a new property fonts provided by application and add the entry of fonts copied in step 1.

3. You are ready to use the custom fonts in you app :)

Lets let them die in the name of corruption. ..

Installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Dell Inspiron 1564

Hackintosing your Pc or Laptop is illegal.

But if you intend to do so , At least give credit to people who have design the OS by buying original retail OS X and follow either tonymacx86 or sojugarden methods.

and if you are a visitor from my country Pakistan and are not aware where to get OS X retail dvd. then you can order this at mediacenterPK, they can delivered to your home too.

its been almost 25 days, now its seems like Mac has swear not be installed on my pc, hav tried everything , every single thing, all day long, just wondering about the commands that might work for me, night before yesterday, i finally give up installing on pc [officially i accepted my pc is outdated now :D], so finally bought a laptop yesterday, much much awaited thing for me, bought a Dell Inspiron 1564 (core i3 + ddr3). i just bought laptop to install mac :P ego ego well after returning home to till now[30 hours :P] , i've not install any single thing on windows 7 but hav corrupted windows thrice, and consumed my every single minute to make Mac work for me, how desperate i'm to install on my own machine, it was a straight forward install on adeel's machine [:/] i think , i've visited thousand dozen times Insanleymac forums in these 3 weeks.

Gussa aa jata hai yar [:P] you know i'm very angry typo person :P haha :P

waisy i've tried IPC 10.5.6, IDeneb 10.5 and 10.6 Lite Edition, SnowOsx Universal 10.6 and they all keeping rebooting on my laptop , and "waiting for boot volume with UUID " error on my pc , i've able to install using IDeneb 1.4 on my lappi but after installation its not booting OS but kept rebooting again and again , agay agay dekhiye hota hai kiya [:P]

i've a very nice working desk now :P on the right i've my 20' Acer LCD attached to my outdated PC and on the left i've my brand new lappi (it should hav Mac)

well well well , tonymacx86 is my last hope, it should work yar. its almost 3:15 am i think i' should join bed, other wise my student will gona wake me in the morning [Sirrrrr Uth Jaye .... :P] waisy mujhy raat ko jagnae ka bhut shoq hai :P kyun Bhui ? sahi baat hai na ? ':P'

paper have ended, although paper didn't went well as usuall .. but we shouldn't deplore over such things , a lot of things were jumbled in mind , even i didn't wrote anything on my blog too, yeah yeah i'm very weak at this, i'm not able to transform things into words that are in my mind ok ok so is this a problem ? better live with what i got :D

i was thinking about the final year project , how happy i was at the approval , Grid Computing ... even doesn't still know , how we'll do this , now i don't think it as a single project, its two seprate project implementing Video Encoding over Grid structure, encoding on a distributed plateform seems quite complicated now ... there are a lot of issues , like in which form we'll transfer data, i was thinking to do this at frame level with serializing each frame ... let see , i'm doing masive googling now a days ... one more issue include uploading and downloading issue ... i also want to debug limewire code, this certainly would help ...

i was quite in a state of affliction but two things get me out of this ... one was "live with what you got" certainly these five words gave me a confidence to stand again ... second was a Ahadis "Demand Allah what you want , but don't be stubborn" these two things changes something in me dramitically... i'm pleased with everything now ... and no more a stubborn child and leave everything on Allah, coz Allah Almighty never put someone in a burdon which one can not hold ...

i'm very harsh in my words now a days ... but sometime you have to be ... specially when one of my friend share things with me ...

my both hard disk drive ain't workin.. even my ram is showing dump memory error .. i'm using friend's ram and younger bro pc's hdd , i'm very addicted to pc and music , i'm just praying about my whole music collection that reside in both these hdd , planned to buy new hdd, camera and laptop but things are not in my favour ...

things are never in ur favour , things never happens like you want , you always have to deal with unexpected things and this is what life is ... and life is teaching me what it is ...

Compiling C# code from Command Line

What makes me to think about this ? i was thinking that there might be a procedure for compiling C# code from command line like we normally do with other programming languages. . . actually it was our APOS(Advance Priciples of Operating System)'s lab , and sir wants us ko design a cluster through out the semester , programming languages platform were open to us , either we work with C, Java or C# . We decided to go with C#.. but lab staff is so uncooperative and was not able to provide us Visual Studio IDE , so this idea came to me that Can we compile C# code without Visual Studio ? after Googling i found , Yes we can :D

so here is the procedure ...

you need Microsoft .NetFramework like Sun JDK for Java , if you already have .NetFramework, you can find it in

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework

Current version of .Net Framework is 3.5, you can download it from HERE , i also found all previous of Framework in the above mention folder ..

and this is how we can compile a program

1. Open command prompt and go to the directory where the source file is we assume it as C:\Temp

2. Type set path=c:\windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.5 , assuming .NetFramework 3.5,

3. Type csc.exe /out:Program.exe Program.cs or you can say

csc.exe /out:[Executable File Name] [Source File Name]

4. Type Program.exe to run, if there is no error .

and you are done :D , csc.exe is the C# compiler file, like we have javac.exe in JDK.

i don't know , how this software able to trap google server, and how this works , but this certainly is the software for which i was loolkin for years :p

and what is this ?

every one knows about Google Books, which contains alomost all the books . . . but with limited preview. so here is the software , Hats off to the writer of this software..

GBD can download books from Google Books and can save as pdf, it download each image of page available at Google Books and combine and unite them in a single pdf file . . .

All you need to do is just copy and paste the book id from the url to the Book code and click check

after checking , click select all , then downloaded selected, after download , save selected and here you go :D , you got the book :D
